My hometown, Margate, NJ, has a pretty cool connection to the classic Monopoly board. When the game was first created, Margate was considered part of Atlantic City, known back then as “Down Beach.” That’s where a few familiar properties come from—Atlantic Avenue, Ventnor Avenue, and of course, Marven Gardens (yes, that’s the correct spelling; the board game version has it wrong!).
Funny enough, my family home happens to sit right on Atlantic Avenue. As a gift for my mom, I designed a custom Monopoly property card featuring our house. That one little project sparked an idea—and it’s grown into something I’ve really come to love.
Now, I offer to photograph other homes that appear on the Monopoly board and create customized property cards with personal touches. It’s such a fun way to blend photography with a bit of nostalgia.
