About
My dedication to precision isn't just for my clients—it’s a personal obsession. My macro studies, like the dandelion featured above, have even caught the eye of international collectors, leading to sales as far away as Australia.
Strategic Visual Documentation Based in Raleigh, NC
At Gottschall Photography, we specialize in translating complex industrial operations, professional identities, and specialized animal portraiture into high-impact visual assets. From our studio near downtown Raleigh to manufacturing floors across North Carolina, we provide technical precision for local small businesses, creative entrepreneurs, and industrial brands that require more than just a photograph.
About Cheryl Gottschall
Photography is not a second career or a hobby for Cheryl—it is a lifelong discipline. With a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Photographic Communications from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Cheryl brings a scientific level of rigor to every assignment.
Her background in medical and surgical photography taught her the most critical lesson in the field: getting the shot right the first time. This precision serves her well whether she is handling sensitive industrial components with white-glove precision, navigating the tight quarters of a manufacturing plant, or capturing the nuanced expression of a CEO.
Cheryl utilizes a documentary approach to find the perfect composition quickly, bringing the same patience and technical timing used in surgical theaters to capture the unpredictable personality of a canine subject in the studio.

“I had the pleasure of working with Cheryl on a few photography projects for Schneider-Electric. She is a top-notch photographer who needs minimal direction and has a great eye for detail. She was professional and punctual for each project and her ability to deal with shooting in a manufacturing setting made the process a breeze. I would recommend Cheryl for any and all photography needs since she is also quite versatile and personable!”
“We are thankful that we have been granted this opportunity to work together. Your disposition to assist such a young company speaks volumes about your character. May your success as an entrepreneur catapult us to new heights in this exciting venture!”
“We first hired Cheryl for portraits of our management and sales staff for a major rebranding campaign. She has also photographed our industrial drying machinery in our factory and at customer facilities, and taken close-up pictures of dryer internals and food products that are processed on our machines. Each assignment is treated with the utmost care and attention to detail — with fantastic results. We have a high quality digital camera and have tried taking good pictures ourselves, but there is no comparison to a professional photographer. The perfect lighting, angles, and compositions that Cheryl creates make all the difference in our brochures and other marketing materials.”
“Cheryl did Walsh+Company’s corporate portraits. Cheryl had the perfect blend of professional focus and a fun air about her. And, if you have seen my portrait on Linked, you will appreciate how good she is ;-)”
