Atlantic City Airshow featuring the US Air Force Thunderbirds…

While visiting my family in Margate, NJ, I heard the loud jets rumbling overhead. The Thunderbirds were practicing for the Atlantic City Airshow that was to take place the next day. Our house is directly in the flight path where they turn around and head up the beach to Atlantic City. Although I was in a prime location to see the event, it wasn't enough for me. The following morning I packed my lunch in my bike basket, put my camera backpack on my back, and peddled to Atlantic City. It's a 4-mile bike ride up the boardwalk. I chose to bike since the Airshow draws a crowd of more than 500,000 spectators annually. Plus, the bike ride along the boardwalk is amazing in and of itself.

I found a spot to park my bike along the railing at Florida Avenue. I was situated next to the announcer, and the planes flew right overhead. It was exhilarating! When I'm not photographing for a client, these are the types of things that make me spark.
